Custom Made earplugs

At Alpine, we distinguish between two types of warranty for custom-made earplugs:

Fit Warranty
If you have received your custom-made earplugs but are not satisfied with the fit, you can claim our fit warranty within three months of receipt. In that case, we will provide one free new set of earmolds, including a new fitting.

Material Warranty

At Alpine, you receive twelve months of material warranty on all custom-made hearing protection. This means that if you experience (accidental) damage to your custom-made earplugs within one year of purchase, we will send you a new set (provided the conditions are met).

To extend the lifespan of your custom ear molds and prevent ear problems, it is advisable to clean them after use with the Alpine Cleaning Spray for custom earplugs.

This convenient, odorless spray (available in our earplug accessories) cleans and disinfects efficiently without leaving sticky residues. Simply spray your earplugs and then wipe them with a tissue or a soft, clean cloth. Afterwards, they are ready for use!

With earplugs that have a filter, earwax can sometimes remain in the opening of an ear mold; you can remove this with the included cleaning hook. Earplugs without a filter, such as the SwimSafe plugs, do not have a filter opening and are therefore supplied without a cleaning hook. Good ear care is also important to keep your custom earplugs clean.

When custom-made earplugs need to be replaced varies from person to person. The quality of the material remains intact, but over time, the ear canal may not seal as well. This can cause your ear molds to leak sound or become slightly less comfortable. This is because ears are largely made of cartilage, which continues to grow and change throughout your life. For some people, this process happens quickly, and they need new earplugs after just 2 years, while others can use a single set without problems for 10 years. It’s really a matter of luck! On average, custom earplugs need to be replaced after 4 to 5 years.

We understand that it can be difficult to determine the right attenuation for your earplugs. It is good to know that Alpine offers a lifetime free filter replacement service for the conical filter earplugs (PartyPlug, WorkSafe, Flyfit). This means you can have the filters replaced if you want a different attenuation over time, whether you need them quieter or less attenuated. More information about this can be found here.

When you have purchased our MusicSafe or MotoSafe earplugs, you can buy and easily replace filters yourself. We do not offer a lifetime filter replacement service for these earplugs. These filters are available via this link to purchase.

Yes, we store all digital impressions of your ear canals in our system for up to two years. After this period, they are deleted, as the shape of the ear canals can change throughout your life, since they are made of cartilage.

If we still have your impressions, we can use them for a new order, saving you time and effort and eliminating the need for a new fitting. You will need to place a new order (to order a complete set, use this link. If you only want to order a single earplug, you can do so via this link). After placing your order, please contact us to provide your old order number and your new order number. Once the order is placed, you can report this to us via this contact form. This way, we can link your old impressions to your new order. If you are ordering a single earplug, be sure to specify whether it is the left or right earplug.

We strive for the highest quality in every product. That’s why we perform various quality checks throughout the entire process, both before and after production. However, without a leak test, we cannot guarantee 100% sealing and thus the hearing protection level at the specified attenuation. We advise you to schedule an appointment for a sealing test. This is easy to do, and the appointment can be made at www.alpine.nl via Schedule an Appointment. This can be done immediately after receiving your custom-made earplugs, and in any case, we recommend doing this annually.

The SNR value (Single Number Rating) is a European standard that allows you to compare the noise reduction levels of different hearing protectors. Independent laboratories test earplugs and earmuffs to determine the SNR value of an earplug.

In the United States, an NRR (Noise Reduction Rating) is used instead of an SNR. This standard is slightly stricter than the European standard. The higher these ratings, the more the hearing protection reduces noise. Both NRR and SNR ratings are often displayed on Alpine product packaging.
